Not a lot of sewing was done over the weekend. I had my oldest granddaughter Friday night and both of the granddaughters on Saturday.  We had a really good time and Alayna and I did a little sewing on her doll but we didn't get it finished.  We worked on it while Carmen was taking a nap but had to stop when she got up...I'll finish the doll this week.  I plan on giving this to Alayna for graduation from 1st grade along with a Barbie movie.  She likes those movies. I got her one on Friday night and we watched it Friday night and Saturday morning.  She took it home with her and I think she's watched it about three more times since Saturday!  Oh my, I'm glad she took it home!!!

Here's my two sweet granddaughters. We all had fun together.

When they went home, I was able to put the border on my bird tablerunner, but that's all I got done! My husband decided we had to go shopping for him some pants!  I had planned on quilting the runner and finishing the doll but no, it didn't happen. It still hasn't happened either....Hopefully, I can get both done this week and I'll show you the finished projects. Here's the runner with my border on it.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I had a wonderful day.  My MIL fixed lunch for all of us and we had a nice visit.  I didn't get back to the sewing machine but that was ok too.  til next time, happy quilting!

Retreat Update

Last week I went to retreat. I went there on Thursday and stayed until Sunday afternoon.  I had a great time except for my allergies and not sleeping....The allergies I tried to handle with pills and staying in.  It was ok except it sure drug me down.  I did rest but tossed and turned nearly every night. By the time I got home, I was exhausted.  I have been kinda off all week but I'm bouncing back, although slowly!!!
I will go back again but hopefully the no sleep part was due to the allergy medication and next time won't be so bad.  I had a great time and got alot done too.  I started cutting out this quilt Thursday afternoon and cut it completely out before I started sewing.  I started sewing late Thursday afternoon and finished putting it altogether on Friday afternoon.  From a distance, the off-white fabric looked like it had bugs or ants on it, we all had a good laugh about it.  When I got home today, I had cut out the leaves at lunch and I ironed them on. I still have to stitch around them but it looks like it should now.

Doesn't it look better with the leaves?  I can't wait to quilt it...I've already decided on a name for this one, Autumn Splendor.

Here's a closer look at the leaves.

The next thing I worked on at retreat was this Thimbleberries pattern.  These aren't Thimbleberries fabrics, just the pattern.   I started this last month on Thimbleberries day and wanted to work on it more but never did.  I've been thinking about making it bigger but I've decided I'm not going to. Now, since I made that decision, I have picked out the fabrics for the borders and I'll be putting those on next.

I pulled out this little tablerunner next and put it together.  I still need to add a border to it but I didn't have the right ruler with me and didn't want to mess it up.   I'll be working on this Saturday if not before....

Here's a close-up of the fabrics for the tablerunner.  I have had this kit for about ten years.  I forgot about it and found it when I was straightening up and moving stuff around.  I really enjoy surprises, don't you?

I made a few other blocks to go with other projects but didn't take any pics of those. I did take pics of some of the projects my friends worked on and now you'll see those.....

This started out in a class for a tablerunner but Annalee turned it into a quilt.

This is a great setting for the Barbara Brackmen blocks from last year.

This was a pizza box project that Jackie participated in.  It looks more gold than it really is...

This was a block of the month from last year.

A work in progress....

This is a Round Robin that's taking place over the internet....

Another WIP...

Almost finished....

Another Block of the month.

A quilt for a future grand child

Some more works in progress.

There was alot of work going on in the room. Some projects got finished and some are still on-going. Hopefully, I'll get to see the finished projects soon and get to show you too. Til next time, happy quilting!

Weekend Happenings and me time.

Well, I was busy over the weekend but it wasn't with sewing.  I kep the youngest grand child Friday night and Saturday.  She didn't really want me to sew anything. She wanted Grammy time. So that's what we did.  I played with her and watched some of her programs and just focused on her.

Plus, I haven't been doing too much of anything as my allergies are full blown.  I've been taking allergy medicine and feel like I'm a walking zombie.  I get home and don't want to do anything.  I have to make myself do anything.  My eyes are the worst. I can't even wear makeup as my eyes water and burn so much.  I love Spring but it sure doesn't like me.  Enough of my woes though.  I just can't get it together to think about too much right now.  Maybe when it's Summer and hotter than H!  I'll be inside buzzing around with my sewing machine....

Sunday afternoon, there was an official one year birthday party for Carmen. We went to the park for and had a great time with her. The older kids fed the ducks and walked beside the water and the oldsters sat around and watched. Then we had cake and ice cream and watched Carmen tear into her gifts. It was alot of fun and so good to see family on both sides.

Carmen got a little messy tearing into her smash birthday cake!

She loved reading the cards. She wanted to kiss all the little animals on the birthday cards.
It was a great time for all of us.  It's so much fun to see children having a good time with loved ones all around, Happy Birthday, Carmen, you are truly loved!

After the party, my DH and I took the other three grandkids with us to eat BBQ and another park over by their house to play while their parents went to the Ranger game.  That was fun too but I was a tired puppy when we got home!  It was midnight and I didn't want to do anything but go straight to bed!
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was nothing special. Just work like crazy so I can take off work for Thursday and Friday to go on retreat.  That's right, you heard me, it's retreat time.  I am ready for it too! Well, my body and spirit are ready. I'm not ready yet as I haven't even decided exactly what I'm taking so I need to get off of this and get ready to go. I'm heading out in about three hours so I have to get it together.  Usually, I have everything ready and the car packed the night before but I was so tired last night when I got home, I sat down to read the mail and that's where I stayed.  I woke up and went to bed and set the alarm to get it together today.  So, that's what I'm doing in a few minutes. I'm going to have some me time....Yeah, 4 whole days to sew and be with my friends. So, hopefully, I can show you some great things when I get back. Everyone, have a great week and get some sewing time in. Til next time, happy sewing!
