Get it Done: February Report and March Goals

So, my goals for February were:

Quilt & Bind the Red Scrap Quilt - didn't get done...

Quilt & Bind the Brown Bow Tie Quilt - didn't get this one done either.

Quilt & Bind the Christmas Star Tablerunner-Done 02-07-13

Bind my Thimbleberries Garden quilt, binding is sewn on but needs to be hand stitched down.

I only got one of my goals done for the month.  I did sew the binding on my Thimbleberries quilt last night but I haven't hand stitched the back down yet.  I want to finish this one on Sunday if I can so it will go on my March list....
Goals for March:

1. Bind my Thimbleberries Garden quilt
2. Quilt and Bind the Brown Bow Tie Quilt
3. Quilt and bind the Red Scrap quilt.
4. Quilt and bind the 2nd D4P quilt

Ok, there's my list...I am making myself accountable and by making this short list each month I'll be focused on these items.  I'll be linking up with Judy Laquidera for the Get it Done Challenge.  If you are up for a challenge, check out her site and join us....Til next time, happy stitching!

Not getting it done for the Getting it Done challenge

Well, it's Wednesday and the last Wednesday of the month!  Oh my, this month has gone faster than ever!  I can't believe tomorrow is the end of the month and I haven't gotten everything done that I planned!  I do plan to go home tonight and sew the binding on my quilt and I'm going to try to get another of my little quilts ready to be quilted. I don't know that it will get started tonight but I want to get it ready to go.  I guess I over estimated what I could do for my Get It Done challenge for this month.  I'm not too disappointed though as I did get  one of the things done on my list and I did get a quilt done for my granddaughter that wasn't on the list.  I'm going to think about this and decide what to put on my list for next month.  Of course, I plan on getting these projects done so if they aren't completed this month, I'll put them on the list again for next month.   I've thought about these projects and dreamed about them but that didn't get them done!  I'll just have to put more effort into getting these done next month.  Hmm, I'll be thinking about my list today and deciding what to do.

I cut out some more hearts for pillows last night when I got home from tatting.  I'll try to get those done tonight or tomorrow.  I'll show you those later tonight.  Well, got to get busy now and I'll post a few pics of the pillows and another little thing I've been doing too.  What are you working on today?

Until next time, I hope you get some stitching in. Enjoy your day.

Pillowcases, D9P QAL, D4P and heart pillows.

I have been sewing a little this week.  I've had two meetings and kept grandchildren two nights so when I had a little free time, I sewed but didn't blog.  Now that the grandbaby is asleep, I'll show you some of the things I've worked on this week...
Tuesday was tatting night and I went to it.  It was a good time and I tatted a little and knitted a wash cloth...

On Wednesday night, I made the two pillowcases for my granddaughters.  I made one for each of them....both of them are alike and match the quilts I am making.

Thursday, I went to my quilting group. When I got home, I sewed up these three heart pillows.  I stuffed them today but will hand sew them shut tomorrow for my slow stitch Sunday. We are making these in my quilting group to give to the breast cancer center next month.  I need to sew some more and I plan to, but these are all I had time for. I'll make more next week.

Friday, after work I kept kids and didn't sew.  I got up early this morning and started sewing before the grandbaby woke up....I made some purple blocks for the  Rainbow challenge. I'll be using some of these in the second quilt and some in the third quilt.

I made some of these too. These are to go into another ongoing project for the Rainbow challenge. I started making these last year and these are fun and easy to make too.

Later today, when Carmen was napping, I finished sewing up enough blocks for the second quilt.  Here it is up on the design wall ready to be put together. I was going to make these two quilts just alike but decided not to do that.  Alot of the blocks are the same and the borders will be the same but the blocks are not all set in the same positions.  They won't know it or care so I decided it wasn't important.

Now, I have 28 blocks leftover for the third quilt. I guess I'll make some more. The third quilt is just going to be a small quilt. I'll put those up and decide how big I want it to be when this one is finished.

Tonight, after I put the baby to bed, I finished putting the last strip onto my D9P I've been working on.  This is just a scrappy little quilt and I think I'll put one more row on before I call this one finished.  I'm not sure if I'll put a border on it or not...what do you think? One more long row and a border or just the row?

Ok, that's it for now. I've got some knitting to do so until next time, happy stitching!

A few wedding pictures.

The wedding was wonderful.  The bride was beautiful and the service was sweet.  The only thing that went wrong was the ring girl didn't want to do anything but run around and play on the piano.  She had to be held by my other daughter in law to keep her out of trouble!  My oldest granddaughter became the official ring bearer and did a wonderful job!  Here are a few pictures of the wedding...

Carmen and Alayna

Alayna ended up being the ring bearer. This thrilled her to death.  She was so good!  She's shy and this was a big deal!

The happy couple.

Saturday sewing

I got up really early this morning so I could sew.  This is the wedding weekend and I'll have the grandbaby until Monday. I knew if I didn't get up early, I wouldn't get a chance to sew...she keeps me hopping!

I made my purple Box block for the Rainbow challenge and I'm really liking this block.  It's a fun and easy block to make.

I also made my 5 blocks for my small group swap. This is the final 5 blocks and the swap will be complete. Once these blocks are swapped, I can put the blocks up on the design wall and start putting the quilt together.

I also put this scrappy crazy block together.

I used templates from Sharlene Jorgenson for this block.  I have alot of fabrics cut out for this but I just sewed this one up to see what it would look like.  I think I'm going to like this one.  It's going to be very scrappy and I can sew it whenever I get scraps cut out for it...it will be an ongoing project. I'm going to use anything and everything in it and see how it turns out.  This was a fun block to put together and went together great using her templates.

Well, that's all I did and all I had time for.  I hope you got to sew today and have a fun and restful weekend.  Until next time, happy stitching!

Wedding preparations, oh my!

We had a birthday earlier in the week and the rest of the week has been shopping and preparation for the upcoming wedding on Sunday. My youngest son is finally getting married and last minute decisions being made. I made two ring bearer pillows last night after the Valentine dinner with my husband.  Well, I actually finished them during my lunch break today...

I made two because both of my granddaugters are going to be in the wedding.  One is 20 months old and she is the ring bearer but my other granddaughter is walking with her to help her with her task.  I made two so when she gives one to the preacher, she won't be screaming to get it back or not give it up!!  My oldest granddaughter will give her the other one to replace it!  I hope this works.  It's going to be a small family wedding so it won't matter if it doesn't.  This will just be more memories to love!

Here are the little ring pillows I made.

I have to thank Beth from Love, Laugh, Quilt for the idea about the ring pillow. I copied her idea about the handle on the back... Thanks so much, Beth!

Her Birthday quilt .

I finished the quilt Sunday night and gave it to my granddaughter Monday night.  She loved it.  Here she is inspecting my quilting!

Here she is with her new doll .

Now, here she is all tucked in for the night with a new doll and under a new quilt made with love...

I stopped Monday afternoon and got some more fabric to make the pillowcases and just haven't had the time to do them yet.

I went to Tatting on Tuesday night and wedding shopping last night.  Tonight, I'm making a little ring pillow.  My son is getting married this Sunday and this week is all about the wedding.  It's been very busy doing little things for it, so life will be back to normal next week.  I'll post more later, when I can. Until then, happy stitching!

Finally binding the birthday quilt!

Well, I'm down to the wire here.  I put the quilt on the frame Friday afternoon and started quilting it.  I got it finished  Saturday night after the grandbaby left. I finished quilting it around 11:00 and took it off the frame...I cut the binding today and sewed it on. Now, I'm hand stitching the binding to the back.  I've already made the label and hopefully, I'll get this one done by tonight or tomorrow afternoon.  Her birthday is tomorrow!  Talk about cutting it close!  I went ahead and cut the borders for the 2nd quilt that will be just like this one and I cut some of the binding strips. I found out I didn't have enough fabric so will be making another trip to the shop for more.  Since I did this, I do not have enough now for a pillowcase like I wanted,  but that's ok.  When I get more fabric, I'll make one then and give it to her late.  I've enjoyed making this one, even with the deadline.  I quilted this with loops and hearts.  Some of my hearts look like leaves instead of hearts but hopefully, my eight year old granddaughter will still think they are hearts!  I'm linking up with Kathy of Kathy's Quilts for Slow Stitch Sunday and I'm going to turn the TV on and watch some of the show's I've recorded and enjoy stitching. I hope you have a restful Sunday afternoon too. Happy Stitchining!

A quilt top ready for quilting, a block and a Get It Done finish!

Here's #1 quilt top all together ready for quilting. I'm using this border fabric for two of the D4P's I'm making.  These are for my two granddaughters.  They are not sisters, they are cousins.  My oldest granddaughter thinks it's cool to have stuff just like her smaller cousin so this one is one of  her birthday gifts. I plan on making a doll quilt to match and a pillowcase too.  I've got to hurry up and finish this one. Her birthday is the 11th!

Here's a close-up of the cute border fabric....She like the peace signs and flowers.  I hope she likes it.

Here's the block I made for a future BOM for my guild. This is called the Wonky 5-Sides Log Cabin Block and is from the Craftsy website.  It was fun to do.

Last but not least, here's a pic of my tablerunner I finished.  It is one of my 4 Get It Done Projects for this month.  Yeah!  1 down and three to go...This was fun to make and fun to quilt too.  I got this off the Missouri Star Quilt Company website. Jenny has a tutorial over there on Youtube or her site and you can get it from her there.

Here's a close-up of my star...I wish I had put some interfacing on it so it wasn't so transparent but oh well, it is what is is...

Now, I'm off to put that quilt top on the machine to quilt it.  Til next time, happy quilting!

Yes, I've been busy...

I bet you think I haven't been busy!  Well, you would be wrong!

I was wanting to work on my granddaughters quilt over the weekend to finish it up but couldn't find the fabric I wanted.  I went to three different stores and they didn't have what I was hunting for.  The third store had some fabric but not enough yardage.  Finally, Monday afternoon, the fourth shop had somethink I could live with. It's brighter than I wanted but it will do. I bought enough for both quilts...I put the inside border on the quilt Monday night and went to bed.  I finally finished it up last night with the final outside borders.  I showed it to my husband and guess what,  he likes the quilt!  This is the same quilt he said he didn't like but now likes it with the borders on it.  I'll show you the quilt top later.  I cannot upload pictures on my computer at work, so I'll post those tonight.  I wll be putting this quilt on the frame and starting to quilt it.  The birthday is this weekend and I am rushing to get er done!!! I plan on making a doll quilt to match and a pillow case.  I have to hurry!
Since I didn't have the fabric to work on my granddaughter's quilt over the weekend I worked on other things.  I finished up one of my projects on my list. You know, the Get it Done list?  Yep, I quilted and bound a tablerunner and it is finished for next year!!! I'll show you that too tonight.

I also made a block for the Guilt meeting.  This is a future block.  It will be a block of the month later in the year.  One more thing out of the way. It wasn't on my list but that's ok.

I went to my Guild meeting Tuesday night and had a great time.  I won a wonderful door prize too.  It was a ruler I have been wanting and now I can't wait to play with it.  I won the big Twister ruler. I already had the little twister but wanted this one too. I have a Layer cake waiting to play with too...Once I get this quilt done, I can play a little. I already have most of the blocks done for the second quilt and I have until April for it to be done so I'm ahead of schedule on it.  Ok, gotta get busy and go to work, I'll post more tonight with pics.
