Terrell Quilt Show

Last Sunday, I went to a lovely little quilt show in Terrell, Tx. They have an annual show in conjuction with the town's anniversary. It's called the Terrell Jubilee. There's rides for the kids, a car show, hayrides, craft booths, and a Historic Homes Tour. It's a pretty big deal for this little town. I think they've been doing it eleven years now. They have a small quilt show but it's all quality quilts and it's worth going to see what quilts are on display. There's a few local quilt shop vendors too. It was alot of fun to go to this...Here's some of the quilts.

This one was my favorite, it was a great One Block Wonder quilt...

Chain blocks and sewing with friends.

I've been working on chain blocks, 32 of them. I started working on them last Friday night. I took them to work on when I went and sewed with some of my friends.  I can't do hard things when I go sew with my friends as there is always too much going on and I just can't concentrate. This was repetitive sewing so I knew this would be ok. I got the blocks started there and I finished a few Saturday morning but I had to get up early to do those. Once Carmen was awake, that was all the sewing I had time for, I was running after her once she was up!

I finished these up today...now to start on the other part of the project.

These are all made with florals.  My group had a fabric swap and these were what I got...

I also made a friendship star.  There are 31 of these for this project...this is number 1, 30 to go!

Close up of some of the blocks.  The 4 patch in the corners are 3 1/2", so this block ends up being a 9" finished block.  I looked on the package and this project was from 2008!  Hmm, I thought I was getting caught up on my old projects but I guess not!

Ok, I got to get busy on the other part to this project and get those finished. I don't want to let this project get any older! Enjoy your week.

Rainbow Scrap Green and Civil War Quilt-another Get It Done challenge off the list!

I worked on my green blocks this weekend.  I got eight green blocks finished. These are Crossroads blocks and I wanted to go back and do the previous months rainbow colors but didn't get around to it yet. I do plan on doing that but wanted to work on putting together my Civil War quilt too....

Here's my Crossroads blocks:
These blocks are easy and fun to do. I saw these on other blogs that are participating in the Rainbow Scrap challenge and loved them.  The tutorial was on Connie's blog, Freemotion by the River, her tutorial is great.  She gives you 3 different size blocks to make. Mine are 9" blocks but I plan on doing 12" blocks too. This one is going to be for me. I want to make the  12" blocks for communtity service quilts.

Saturday morning I was repairing a baby blanket for my granddaughter and wasn't paying attention. I got too close to the needle and sewed through my thumb.  Boy, did that hurt.  The needle broke but luckily it didn't break off in my thumb.  That stopped my sewing for the day.  I had to go to my grandson's soccer game anyway so I turned the machine off and doctored my thumb...

I came back later and started sewing my borders together for my Civil War quilt.  I put the center together during the week and just had to get the borders on....I worked on it a little Saturday night and finished it up today after the kids left.  My husband held it up but you can't really see the border on the bottom two pics so I did a closer view of the border in the third picture.

Here's the border.  This quilt was a swap quilt all last year.  We made 5 blocks each month, kept 1 and exchanged 4 of the blocks. I really like this quilt and think it will be wonderful all quilted up.  This is number two of my Get It Done challenge finished for the month!

Now, it's time for bed. I hope you enjoy your week and get lots of sewing done.  I also hope you didn't have to pay any money and you get lots of money back from the IRS so you can buy lots of fabric goodies!  Happy Stitching!

New recipes-Yummy Potato Chip Cookies

I just added a new recipe to my recipes page.  These are called Potato Chip Cookies and they are wonderful.  A patient of ours brought them to our office and shared them with us.  They were gone in two days...they are wonderful and very easy to make.

Scroll down a little further and you will see other recipes I've added in the last few days.  These are quick recipes for one person and they are really good. I'll try to update you each time I add a new recipe.  I have tried all of these and I know you will enjoy them.

A new to me quilt club.

Last night was a lot of fun for me. I went to a new to me quilt club.  This group is not a guild but it is a club. People come every month and just sit and work on whatever they want to and just visit with each other. There is usually show and tell. I was told that there are usually alot of people, so many in fact that there are not enough chairs. Last night, there were five of us!  I don't know if it was because of the weather or the basketball game final or what but it was a small group of us.  It was fun anyway and I plan on going again.  I made some new friends and talked quilting. What's better than that?  Tonight is tatting and I'll get to see more of my friends. I hope you have a great day and get to sew or play with fabric and friends. Until next time, happy stitching!
