Busy Week and weekend

This week has been really busy and I haven't sewn on anything. Tuesday was tatting night and I couldn't miss it.  I'm working on my tatted bag and I'll show you that soon.

Wednesday evening, I took my grandkids Trick or Treating in their town. The businesses shut down the main street and hand out candy and treats to the kids.  It was alot of fun.  I took the two oldest grandkids and my youngest in the stroller.  Everybody else was busy, so I got to do it this year.  It was alot of fun!  This little town really does it up right for their residents.  This is the second thing I've been to in the last month that they shut down the main street and all the businesses had something going for the residents.  I am impressed. I have a few pics:

The Ninja turtle is my oldest grandson, the cheerleader is my oldest granddaughter and the baby is my yougest granddaughter.  This was fun!

Up in a firetruck checking out all the bells and whistles.

Crowd pictures.

Loved these costumes, bacon and eggs...too cute.

Playing games for candy.

Lots of candy and prizes and we had a great time and so did they!

Thursday night and Friday night, I was glued to the TV watching the games. Boo hoo, my Rangers lost, but I am so proud of them.  What a series!  It was so stressful, I had to get up and walk out of the room at times.  I did enjoy the game though even though they lost.

I cleaned house yesterday all day until it was time to go over to my son and DIL's for a birthday party for my oldest grandson, Brandon.   He turned 8 years old yesterday.  Wow, time flies so quickly!  I can't believe he is already that old.  We had a  quick birthday party for him with family and friends...

then headed over to my friends, Ann and Glenn's for their wonderful Halloween party.  It was alot of fun, but it scared the bejeebers out of my grandkids.  Ann and Glenn decorate their whole house for Halloween like some people do for Christmas.  Halloween has always been Ann's favorite holiday and she does it up right every year.  Her party's are family oriented and I just knew my grandkids would have fun but...some of the decorations were a little too much for them.  They liked the food and the candy but left fairly quickly after they ate. They didn't stick around for the games.  My son said that Alayna didn't want to go into her room alone when she got home.  So, she ended up sleeping in Brandon's room with him!  Oh, I felt bad as I just knew they would have so much fun.

Ann dressed up as the Itsy Bitsy Spider

Glen was a chef, somewhere he lost his mustache....I hope it wasn't in the punch!

Good food and munchies.

This couple was putting on the ritz- Halloween style!

A few scary decorations that talk when you walk by....

Fun party!

I've had a very busy week but plan on getting up to the sewing room this afternoon. I've had so many things calling me to work on....I don't know what I'm going to work on first. I'll show you later.  til next time, have a great Sunday.

Brandon and his pumpkins

Brandon's Bat Pumpkin won class favorite AND 1st grade Kid favorite!
Way to go, Brandon!

Hello Batty!

Look at this great Ranger pumpkin!

Happy Halloween everyone, have fun!!!

Grandbabies and Brandon's birthday party

I took off work last Friday so I could watch my youngest grandbaby, Trent.  He is so much fun...He was climbing on the table and he knew he wasn't supposed to be doing that.  Cute baby but he has to be watched pretty closely cuz he's a climber!

My DIL was going on a field trip with my granddaughter and her class to the Dallas Zoo....This is Alayna, my beautiful and only granddaughter. She had fun with her Mom at the Zoo.

When they came back from the zoo, they went back to school and watched a movie and had popcorn!  What a treat!   We went to school and picked her up and my oldest grandson, Brandon...we came home and cleaned up the house a little bit so we could get ready for Brandon's birthday party.  He was having a Wii birthday party.  He invited several of this little friends to his party and asked them to bring their own controllers.  They did and their names were written on them and they played Wii games.  Then had pizza, cake and ice cream.  It was so much fun!  Brandon 's birthday isn't til the 29th but he had a big Halloween party to go to so he wanted his birthday early.  Here's the cute Wii cakes my
DIL made for him.

He loved these.  He likes fondant and asked his Mom to make his cakes with it.  She also mad cakes with regular icing too for the group that doesn't like fondant icing...

Here's the sweet birthday boy with his cakes.

Opening some cool gifts.
This was a fun party.  8 little boys all running around inside and out.  I was a tired Grammy when I got home!

Happy Birthday, Brandon, Grammy loves you!

1st Day of School for my Grandkids

These are my sweet grandkids. It is the first day of school, Alayna is in kindergarten, Brandon in First Grade and Trent has a few more years to go.

Sunday Sewing and Grandkids

My guys were gone picking up an old pickup from a friend of ours. My older son has wanted this truck since he was 16 and he is now 28...He finally talked our friend into letting him buy it. This will be a project for my two sons and my husband to work on together. They were gone all day and I got some quality me time...

I worked on several things. I made up for lost time with no sewing machine Friday night. I put together all 8 strips of this Stacked Brick quilt. It is now ready for sashing and borders. This is the 3rd Stacked Brick quilt. One is finished, I just showed that one a few posts back. Number 2 and 3 are in the strip phase now. I think I'll use scraps for the sashing strips on these. I'll audition these and see which ones I like. These are all pressed and ready to be put together.

I put together two more rows for my Floating 4 Patch Quilt. It now has 10 rows and is a small square quilt. I'm going to put together more rows on this one. This one is just too small. It's so cute, I want it to be a full size quilt so I need more strips. This month is the last month for the exchange so I guess I'll put together as many as I can.

I also washed and pressed my little Nana's Flower Patch wallhanging. The pink marks came out just fine. I put the French Knots on it and some little red heart buttons. I will be putting some quilting around the hexagon and then I can frame it. The pattern called for an old looking frame but I don't want that. I know what I want, it's just finding it...If I can't find what I want, I'll get my husband to make me one. He is very talented with glass and picture framing.

Tonight, is a back to school party over at my son's house for my granddaughter and grandson. Alayna started kindergarten today and Brandon went to 1st grade. We'll be having dinner followed by cake and ice cream. Wow, where does the time go? Seems like just yesterday, they were little and crawling. Enjoy your grandkids while you can, cause they grow up too fast!

Tractor and Train quilts

I made this quilt for my grandson, Brandon, Christmas 2007. Another blogger wanted to make a John Deer tractor quilt and was looking for suggestions. I discovered that I had never taken a picture of it so this past week, when I was over visiting, he let me take a picture. So, here's his tractor quilt...This is his first big boy quilt...

Back of quilt:

I also took this picture. I don't remember when I made this one. I think it was Christmas 2006. (I always date my quilts when I sign them but I didn't look when I took this picture.) I made this for Brandon too. He liked trains, so I made this one. At the time, train fabric was hard to find...

Brandon's Birthday

My grandson is going to be six years old on the 29th. We are having a big Trunk or Treat thing at the church on the 31st, so my DIL decided to have his birthday party this weekend. Brandon wanted a hunting birthday party. My son has gotten interested in hunting and has been talking about it so....my little grandson thought it would be cool to have a hunting party where everybody dressed in camoflage...yeah, right. I bought him a fishing pole and a t-shirt that said: Future Fisherman on it but I don't look good in camo gear so I drew the line...My DIL made a birthday cake with camoflage colors and put a deer laying down and another standing up and pigs. (My son wants to hunt wild pigs.)

Happy Birthday Brandon.

Fun with Grandbabies

I watched my grandbabies tonight for my kids. They are fun but man, they wear me out. Brandon is 5 and Alayna is going to be 4 next Wednesday. I took them to Soulman's Bar B Q for supper. Brandon loves barbeque. He calls Soulmans, Pigtown....I didn't know what he was talking about when he told me he wanted to go to Pigtown! He also has a unique name for Home Depot, he calls it Man Land. I love it. Only 5 years old and already has opinions. We ate barbeque then came back and watched Finding Nemo. I had to talk Brandon into watching that as it is a kid's movie and he's not a kid...he's a boy. We watched Nemo and he loved it. Popcorn and M & M's for snack, bath and bed. Boy, I was ready for bed too. Mom and Dad came in and I played with the baby for awhile. He smiled at me four times. My heart flipped over. Aren't grandkids great? With that warm, fuzzy feeling, I gave him back to his Mama and went home.

Quilting my quilt and Brandon

My friend, Judy, called me this morning and asked me why I hadn't blogged lately. I told her I didn't have anything new to show. I've been working on quilting my intermediate quilt and that's all. I'm not finished with it and am not showing it until it's finished. She said that doesn't matter. Your friends like to keep up with you and this is one of the ways they do that. So, friends out there, I'm sorry. I have been lack in blogging and will not do that anymore. I am still quilting that quilt and almost through with it. We will be working on the scalloped borders on Monday night and I am very excited about that. I have another quilt top already done and ready to quilt. I am putting a scalloped border on it and I have waited to do it for more instructions. I will be able to finish that quilt too....It was an Alex Anderson free pattern and it is Alex Anderson's fabric line too. I will start quilting it and have it ready to finish in a few days so hopefully, I will have two quilts to show you. I have so enjoyed this class, it has given me the ummmph to get other things finished. You know how you get kind of burned out or uninspired....that's how I was but since I've taken these classes it has helped me get my enthusiasm back. This has been a fun quilt to try new things....More to follow later.

Brandon, my grandson, lost his first tooth last week. He is 4 but will be 5 at the end of October. I thought it was kind of early to start losing teeth but my DIL checked it out and it isn't....He is so cute. Here is a picture of him without that tooth. Isn't this a cute picture. Gotta love him!
