More projects for the quilt shop and a bag for me

Well, here's the last Beatle bag I made...I have everything to make another but I'll do it sometime soon.  The next one is for me so there is no hurry.... This one is for the quilt shop.

This is a bag I made out of placemats.  It was fun to make. .

I made this quilt top for the quilt shop.  The pattern is called Upstairs/Downstairs and it was in the book, Quilt Boutique by Suzanne McNeill.  I used one jelly roll and 2 yards for the borders and red blocks in the middle of the block.  This was a quick quilt top to make.  The book is an older book but is still available and it has 9 quilts in it that you use jelly rolls for.  All the quilts are quick to make. I really enjoyed making this one and plan to make myself one too.

This is a close-up of the block.

Here's a table runner I made and quilted for the shop.  This is called Cranberry Chutney Table Runner and has lots of food fabric in it. It was fun and fast to make too.

I made 4 more sewing machine mats for the shop. I don't have to do anymore, I've made a total of 14 of these and that's all they need.  These are not hard but they are a little time consuming. They are like little quilts to make. You put them together and have to quilt them.  Put the clear plastic on the bottom and bind them too.  I do not like sewing with the plastic. I sewed one without my walking foot and it was very hard.  I put the walking foot on and it went so much better and quicker.  I had forgotten about my walking foot but remembered really quickly when it was so hard to sew...Anyway, I'm through with these for now and I'm ready to work on other things. I'm now working on iron caddies for the shop and they will be a lot easier to work on.

The sewing machine mat is black fabric but it doesn't look black.  I laid them out on my love seat and the color looks black on it.

This is a top I just finished for the shop.  It is a Christmas panel.  The shop is celebrating Christmas in July...

That's all I have for now.  More to come later. I hope you are having a great summer and getting some sewing time in.  Until next time, happy stitching.

Blocks, pillows, table runners, two little quilts and some tatting.

I have been working on my sewing room today trying to get it reorganized.  I finally gave up and decided to sew a little too.  I made some 4 patches and some half square triangles for a swap I'm doing and worked on some other blocks too. It is so hard to concentrate on my sewing when I feel so disorganized....Hopefully, this week I can get my room a little more like I want it....

I went and sewed with friends yesterday.  I got three blocks put together from my first swap on Thursday.  Here's what the blocks look like so far.

My friendship group is doing the Sunny Lanes quilt out of Pat Speth's book, Nickel Quilts.  I love this book and all of her books.  There are 20 of us in this exchange.  We are making 4 patches and half square triangles to exchange.  Then we put them together ourselves to make the blocks...We exchange 24 4 patches and 24 half square triangles each month and that is enough to make three blocks.  Lots of fun.

I also finished 5 heart pillows today. My friendship group always make heart pillows every February for breast cancer patients.  Thursday night we got together and finished  stuffing the pillows at our meeting. I brought them home to package them up, count them and get them ready to give to the hospital and the American Cancer society.  Here's how many we did. There are 130 pillows altogether!

They are now packaged up and ready to go.

I have a few other things to show too.  Some of my finishes that I haven't shown you yet....

I finished this table runner yesterday. This is a pattern from Jenny Doan's site, Missouri Star Quilts.  I used 5 inch charms to make this.  I bought the charm pack from Missouri Star too.  I used all but three of the charms.  This was quick and fun to do.  Jenny has a video on YouTube you can look at to make this easy table runner.

I made two of these table runners too. These are 60 degree table runners.  Lots of fun to do too.

This was a quick and easy small quilt to make. I used 6 1/2" squares to make this.  It is a charity quilt. I just wanted to make something easy and quick without having to think about it. I just pulled some squares out of my stash  and started sewing them together into big 4 patches.

Here's a close-up of the quilting I did on it...

I made this cute Minnie Mouse quilt for a friend of mine that had her first baby.  Quick and easy to do from a panel.  She loved it.

Last but not least, here's some of my finished tatting.  I still have to put the closure on the bottom one to make into a necklace.

I did these three crosses too.  The middle one is from a Mary Konoir book, the outer two are from Gina Butler's tatting pattern available online.

Well guys, that's all I have for now. Our weather is getting bad here and I hope I get to stay home tomorrow. Maybe I'll get some more sewing time in.  Until next time, stay safe and warm and happy stitching.

Another Flimsy finish, a tablerunner and some fun times.

I have had a busy week working on finishing up some things.  I did put another border on one of my old UFO's and it is now ready to be quilted.  That's number four for March and April since I started doing this...I'm now pulling fabric for the backings so I can quilt these finished flimsies...
Here's my quilt top, this was a pattern by Bonnie Hunter, it is called Orange Crush.  This is the second one I've done.  The first one was finished and given away a long time ago...

I finished quilting this tablerunner too.  This was a lot of fun to do. This is an old pattern from 1999.  I have enough fabric left over to make what the pattern calls a bread warmer!  I thought that was pretty funny.  I hand appliqed this but machine quilted it...

This last picture is something I've been wanting to do for along time.  I went Saturday to a workshop that my guild had.  There were 4 different classes or workshops going on.  Two were small quilts and one was for double wedding ring. The one I took was a workshop on using orphan blocks to make a quilt.  I put about half of this together at the workshop and continued working on it Sunday afternoon.  I still have about 40 or 50 more blocks and will be making a few more orphan quilts.  This was actually a lot of fun.  This includes the first block I ever made as a quilter and blocks I didn't use for my two sister's quilts.  I'm thinking I will call this one finished without a border but I'm still looking at it...I'm calling this Alexander's Orphanage.

I had intentions of working on my blocks for my Rainbow scrap challenge but that didn't happen. I'm going to try to do that this week.  Plus, I started quilting another quilt last night and hope to have it finished tonight or tomorrow...This is going to be a busy week.  I hope you have a fun and productive week. Happy stitching!

A few finishes for the weekend.

This has been a cold weekend so I've stayed in. I had the grandbaby yesterday and didn't get to sew except for when she took a nap.  I sewed up a set of pillowcases for my friend. These go with the Love quilt that I showed you last week.  She loves penguins so these will be right up her alley.

Friday night, I finished up my Wingspan shawl.  Not sure how long it took me to knit this but I'm glad it's finished as I need to work on making some wash cloths for a friend of mine.  Here's the finished Wingspan. I just have to block it now.

Last night, I finished quilting a tablerunner I've had done since last year.   Today, I finished the binding on it and I'm so excited it's finished...

After I finished this up, I finished up another older project. I used this little quilt to teach a class of beginner quilters at my church and I decided it was time to quilt and bind this one too....

You can tell this one is older from the fabric used in it but I really like this one as it brings back some sweet memories.  I didn't quilt it too heavily but it's just right for me. I'll hang this one in my sewing room for awhile.  Ok, that's two more UFO's for me this year!  I can't tell you how excited I am to see my stack of UFO's going down just a little at a time but I am going to really work to have all of them done this year.

I was going to work on some pink blocks for the Rainbow Scrap challenge for this year but I put my pink fabric up and couldn't find it!  I finally just gave up and worked on these old projects and my swap blocks and lo and behold, I found my pink fabric!  I don't have alot of pink and put it up so I wouldn't lose it...Ha, ha, you know how that is??  Well, now I can work on my pink this week....

The last thing I did was make my 5 swap blocks for this week.  We will swap these blocks this week and we only have one more month and the swap will be finished. I'll be able to start putting this one together.    I didn't have 40 nine patches to do this month like I thought. That swap was over last month and I got the last 40 blocks Tuesday night.  We swapped 480 nine patches!! Do you believe that?  Now you know why I was so burnt out on nine patches!  It was so good not to have to do anymore of those!  Here's my swap blocks for this month....

Ok, now for some TV time and knitting time.  I hope you have a good week and get to sew some.  Til next time, happy sewing.

Fun and productive Saturday

Here's my tablerunner I finished up this morning.  I like it except for the quilting.  I quilted it the way the pattern suggested and the quilt pattern is fine. I couldn't decide what color thread to use and finally decided on an off white thread and I don't like the color.  But, you know what?  This is how it's going to stay. Finished is better than perfect and I can live with it so it is what it is....It will be fine with a poinsetta on it at Christmas, right?   Anyway, I like the pattern and I might make another one.  This is my second one and if I make another one, I can give the other two to my sisters. Hmmm, we'll see.

I also put the borders on my Thimbleberrie quilt....

And, here's the little dress I made for my youngest granddaughter.  This was a onesie and I cut it apart. I put a little skirt on the bottom and reattached the panty party.  I then put an appliqued cupcake on the top of it.  (The fabric on the bottom was cupcake fabric so I used the applique to match the fabric.)  This was fun and quick to make. This is a 12 month size but it looks bigger.

Mommy and Daddy liked it too.
