Blocks, pillows, table runners, two little quilts and some tatting.

I have been working on my sewing room today trying to get it reorganized.  I finally gave up and decided to sew a little too.  I made some 4 patches and some half square triangles for a swap I'm doing and worked on some other blocks too. It is so hard to concentrate on my sewing when I feel so disorganized....Hopefully, this week I can get my room a little more like I want it....

I went and sewed with friends yesterday.  I got three blocks put together from my first swap on Thursday.  Here's what the blocks look like so far.

My friendship group is doing the Sunny Lanes quilt out of Pat Speth's book, Nickel Quilts.  I love this book and all of her books.  There are 20 of us in this exchange.  We are making 4 patches and half square triangles to exchange.  Then we put them together ourselves to make the blocks...We exchange 24 4 patches and 24 half square triangles each month and that is enough to make three blocks.  Lots of fun.

I also finished 5 heart pillows today. My friendship group always make heart pillows every February for breast cancer patients.  Thursday night we got together and finished  stuffing the pillows at our meeting. I brought them home to package them up, count them and get them ready to give to the hospital and the American Cancer society.  Here's how many we did. There are 130 pillows altogether!

They are now packaged up and ready to go.

I have a few other things to show too.  Some of my finishes that I haven't shown you yet....

I finished this table runner yesterday. This is a pattern from Jenny Doan's site, Missouri Star Quilts.  I used 5 inch charms to make this.  I bought the charm pack from Missouri Star too.  I used all but three of the charms.  This was quick and fun to do.  Jenny has a video on YouTube you can look at to make this easy table runner.

I made two of these table runners too. These are 60 degree table runners.  Lots of fun to do too.

This was a quick and easy small quilt to make. I used 6 1/2" squares to make this.  It is a charity quilt. I just wanted to make something easy and quick without having to think about it. I just pulled some squares out of my stash  and started sewing them together into big 4 patches.

Here's a close-up of the quilting I did on it...

I made this cute Minnie Mouse quilt for a friend of mine that had her first baby.  Quick and easy to do from a panel.  She loved it.

Last but not least, here's some of my finished tatting.  I still have to put the closure on the bottom one to make into a necklace.

I did these three crosses too.  The middle one is from a Mary Konoir book, the outer two are from Gina Butler's tatting pattern available online.

Well guys, that's all I have for now. Our weather is getting bad here and I hope I get to stay home tomorrow. Maybe I'll get some more sewing time in.  Until next time, stay safe and warm and happy stitching.

More heart pillows

Well hello...I have gotten a few things done since my last post. I cut out and sewed these up this week but stuffed and finished these 7 pillows today. I also made some little pillows too.  The little pillows are called hearts of hope and we were shown these at my last quilt group meeting.   These are just little heart shape pillows decorated however you want to decorate them.  They will be given to ladies that are going through breast cancer also. Good wishes are sewn into each one....I also made two rectangle shaped pillows with straps. These straps are put on your shoulders and you don't have to hold onto them. Some people like these better than the hearts.

Heart Pillows and some ironing pads

I made some more heart pillows to donate. These pillows are easy and quick to make. All the groups I'm in make these and donate to the hospitals for breast cancer patients...

I also finished some more of these ironing pads or I guess you can call them hot pads. Anyway, I'm making these to give as gifts. I made a whole bunch of these earlier in the year and gave them to my sewing group as kits to teach them binding. My group really liked them.
I'll probably put one of those little irons with them and give them to some of my sewing friends for retreats. These are quick and fun to make too. You can use left over blocks or cheater fabric and quilt them any way you want.

An Introduction and a request

I want to introduce you to a little friend of mine. She came to live with me this past week. I adopted her from another friend of mine who couldn't keep her anymore cause she had too many little friends like her. Her name is Hilda Highpockets and she now lives at my house and I have introduced to alot of new little friends here.
I think she is so cute, I just couldn't pass her up. She is sitting in front of a little quilt that I also acquired from my friend. She made this little redwork quilt and I thought it was really cute so I brought it home with me too. After all, Hilda had to have something familiar to her so she would be comfortable the first couple of days. Well, to say the least, she has gotten very comfortable in my home and says she never wants to leave. She has made so many new friends here.

Look at the redwork blocks, aren't they cute.

Here are some heart shaped pillows I made this week. My quilting group and my sewing group make pillows like this and we donate them to the Breast Resource Center at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Every breast cancer patient that has surgery there gets one of these or something like it. We have made alot of these over the years and they always call me for more. The patients really appreciate someone thinking of them as they go through this tough time in their lives.

Ok, I posted these to ask you or remind you to please punch the pink button on the right of the screen to click on the Breast Cancer site. Each click is a free donation to someone that cannot afford a mammogram. This site is trying to get 200 clicks this month and they will make a sizeable donation to breast cancer research. Please take a moment and click on the pink button. Thanks for helping....
