Local Quilt Group Meeting to visit and enjoy

I've started going to the local library on Monday nights. We have a quilt group that meets there and I get to go to the meetings now.  They were meeting on Tuesday nights and I have my tatting on Tuesdays and Quilt Guild on Tuesdays too.  I just couldn't go to another group on Tuesday nights even though I wanted to.  So, they were so sweet and changed the meeting dates to Monday so I could come...These ladies are so sweet and I'm really enjoying this little group.  We crochet, tat, sew, chat or do whatever we want. No stress. You can just sit and visit if you want....

My Paris Traveler's Bag

This is the latest bag I've made.  It is really big but is hard to tell from the picture.  It is called My Paris Traveler's Bag and is 23" X 15" X 9". I made this bag for the quilt shop owner's daughter.  She had the material and pattern for about 2 years and asked me if I would make it for her.  It is lined with pink fabric and is pretty. I enjoyed making it....

I updated my computer to Windows 10 and it's been difficult to add pictures.  I hope I can figure it out soon...

I went to the Plano Quilt Show yesterday and it was great.  I'll show some pics when I can.  I also quilted a quilt today and made 4 blocks to show too...I'll post those later.

Looking back

I haven't been blogging lately and I almost decided to give it up but the last few days I've been reviewing or looking back at my blog and decided I didn't want to stop.  I looked all the way back to the beginning and I had forgotten about a lot of projects that I had done over the years.  It was fun to look back and remember these.
I like keeping track of what I do so I guess I'll just keep it up.  I have updated my computer to Windows 10 and I was not able to upload any pictures to my blog the other day but I'm going to try again.  I don't want to give up on it yet....

I have been working on several things lately and if I can get the pics uploaded, I'll show you what I've been up to.  Happy stitching,

More projects for the quilt shop and a bag for me

Well, here's the last Beatle bag I made...I have everything to make another but I'll do it sometime soon.  The next one is for me so there is no hurry.... This one is for the quilt shop.

This is a bag I made out of placemats.  It was fun to make. .

I made this quilt top for the quilt shop.  The pattern is called Upstairs/Downstairs and it was in the book, Quilt Boutique by Suzanne McNeill.  I used one jelly roll and 2 yards for the borders and red blocks in the middle of the block.  This was a quick quilt top to make.  The book is an older book but is still available and it has 9 quilts in it that you use jelly rolls for.  All the quilts are quick to make. I really enjoyed making this one and plan to make myself one too.

This is a close-up of the block.

Here's a table runner I made and quilted for the shop.  This is called Cranberry Chutney Table Runner and has lots of food fabric in it. It was fun and fast to make too.

I made 4 more sewing machine mats for the shop. I don't have to do anymore, I've made a total of 14 of these and that's all they need.  These are not hard but they are a little time consuming. They are like little quilts to make. You put them together and have to quilt them.  Put the clear plastic on the bottom and bind them too.  I do not like sewing with the plastic. I sewed one without my walking foot and it was very hard.  I put the walking foot on and it went so much better and quicker.  I had forgotten about my walking foot but remembered really quickly when it was so hard to sew...Anyway, I'm through with these for now and I'm ready to work on other things. I'm now working on iron caddies for the shop and they will be a lot easier to work on.

The sewing machine mat is black fabric but it doesn't look black.  I laid them out on my love seat and the color looks black on it.

This is a top I just finished for the shop.  It is a Christmas panel.  The shop is celebrating Christmas in July...

That's all I have for now.  More to come later. I hope you are having a great summer and getting some sewing time in.  Until next time, happy stitching.

More Beatle Bags, Black Sewing Machine Mats, butterfly blocks and Happy Pinwheels Quilts

Well, here's two more Beatle bags. I made these for the quilt shop and have one more to make now too.

I made ten sewing machine mats for the shop. They are going to use them in their classroom.  So when you go take a class, you can use them and stay organized.

'
I made these two butterfly blocks to give to my friend. These are for a donation quilt for On Butterfly Wings, a breast cancer survivor's group.  The quilt will be put together and when it is, I'll take a picture and show you. This block was fun and easy to make.  My quilt group made these last year and a few people won the blocks.  I think I'll make me a quilt out of these this year sometime.  I think all different colors would be lovely.

Here are the three pinwheel quilts my small group made for our friend's family.  They really look all alike but the backings were all different.  Two were queen size and one was a full size quilt.  These were all 30's fabrics.  Fun quilts to make and our friend really liked them. She is giving them to her Mom, sister and niece this week.  We had a great time making these.

Well, that's it for now. Im working on another Beatle bag and a tablerunner now and will show you those when I have them finished.  I hope you are getting some sewing time in too. Until next time, happy stitching.

Shop Samples and a quilt for a friend

I'm working on a lot of things now.  Here are some things I've worked on for a local quilt shop. These are samples for the shop...These are called Beatle Bags and they are very nice bags to carry your sewing and quilting tools in.

The inside of the bags have plastic inserts that you put your supplies in.

They have two pockets and a detachable pin cushion with walnut shells in them.  These were a lot of fun to make.  Now I have two more to make for the shop and one for me.....

This is a sample for the shop also, It is a Deb Tucker pattern, http://www.studio180designs.net/
and is called Southern Hospitality. It was also fun to make.  The border is called migrating geese and she has a great video on how to do this on her website.  She also has a lot of videos on her website and her rulers are great to use.  I used her square ruler for this quilt.  The ruler is a rectangle and I thought it was funny that she called it a square ruler...Anyway, go check out her website and see all the great patterns she has plus good videos too.

I quilted a quilt this week for a friend.  This was one of the pinwheel quilts my group made.  We made three quilts to give to our friend's Mom, sister and niece.  Their homes burnt down and we made them each a pinwheel quilt.   The quilts will be given to her to give to them in about two weeks.  I quilted this one and another friend  quilted the other two.  I don't have to bind it as another friend is doing that.  We are calling these quilts, Happy Pinwheels.. This is a big quilt.  They told me it was a queen size but it's almost a king size.  These are all 30's fabrics.  All the quilts are pinwheels and they are a little different only because of the different color of pinwheel blocks used.  I hope they like the quilts.  They look really pretty close up.

Well, that's it for now. I hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather and until next time, happy stitching.

Some things I've been working on

Here are some things I've worked on.  My son and daughter-in-law moved into a house and decided they did not want these bar stools (there are two of them) so they gave them to me.  They were pretty bad. The seats were an ugly tan color and looked pretty dirty so I reupholstered the seats and I really like them now. Here's one of them, I was working on the other one when I took this picture.

I made this small quilt for our polka dot challenge.  All the fabrics are polka dots even the background fabric.  I saw this on Pinterest and loved it.  There was no pattern given so I just looked and decided what sizes everything needed to be.  Very easy.  I used 4 1/2 inch squares, 2 1/2 inch by 4 1/2 inch strips and  2 1/2 inch by 6 1/2 inch strips. The outer border is 6 inches wide.  We had to make a project out of the fabrics we received in our exchange.  We exchanged fat eights so there wasn't a lot of fabric to play with but enough for this quilt.

I made this one after seeing a video by Jennie at Missouri Star quilts. I also saw this on Pinterest too.  This is called the falling charms quilt.  I used two charm packs and some yardage from the Eleanor Burns fabric line.  The charm pack was one of Jennie's daily deals but I had to buy more than one!

Now to get these quilted.  I have more to show too so come back and see me soon.
