I knitted this little dishcloth for my secret pal. Here's the pattern, it was so easy and fun to do. If you need a refresher in knitting or just want to knit for awhile to get back in the swing, this is the pattern for you...try it out.
Materials: Sugar and Cream yarn; Size 8 needles (US)
Instructions:
Cast on 4 stitches
Row 1: Knit 4
Row 2: Knit 2, yarn over, knit across the row.
Repeat Row 2 until you have 44 stitches on the needle.
Row 3: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit to the end of the row.
Repeat Row 3 until you have 4 stitches on the needle.
You can now either bind off or do a round of single crochet and make a little loop of chain stitches in one corner so you can hang the cloth to dry when you are finished using it.
I got this pattern from an the old Workbasket magazine-October 1987 issue. I've used this pattern for years and I love it. I make these and give them as quick gifts with a nice bar of handmade soap...my friends love it...
Here's a question for all the knitters out there. Do you block dishcloths? Do you block all your knitting or just certain things? Just wondering...

Funny, I do block dishcloths. But there are some things, like bags and certain furby-type sweaters, that I don't block!
I think it makes a difference in what kind of yarn I'm using. If it's a really smooth yarn, I feel the need to block it.
(TG there's no KNIT POLICE!!!)
