Floating Four Patches

I didn't do alot last night. I was able to make 26 floating 4 Patches for exchange tonight at my small group. I'll post pictures of my 4 Patches and should I say, before and after...I'll show you the ones I received in exchange for mine...I'm really liking this exchange. It's so easy to make these and they go pretty quickly. You use 2" strips for the 4 patch part and 4" squares for the outside parts. It's like a square in a square. Anyway, my group is exchanging these and you get as many as you put in. You can only make 10 of the same color combinations but you can make as many as you want each month. I made 26 but I'm exchanging 20. I kept the other 6 because they were all different anyway. There was no need to exchange them. Anyway, this little quilt is coming together very easily with very little effort and I think it's really cute. I love easy scrap quilts. I usually use these as leader/enders but I forgot about these and had to do them hurry up....Tonight is my small group meeting and I will get the last installment of my exchange for the Schoolhouse quilt. I made 40 pinwheels to exchange. These were 3 1/2" pinwheels and turned out really cute. After I get these back, I can put my little top together. I plan on working on this tomorrow night for the Friday night sew in....

I also finished putting the first red row on my flag...I started the Ecru at lunch today and I'm really liking how this is looking. I'm getting excited about this project.

Here's 20 of the floating 4 Patches to exchange.

Here's some I got back in the exchange:

Tatting Tuesday and I said no....

I went to tatting last night and had a great time. I'm still tatting on my flag and I have one red stripe done. I'll be starting a white stripe later tonight. This will be a slow tat but well worth the efforts. I'll show more of this at a later time and I'll not bore you with each step. There are several of us making flags now. It's kind of like a virus, some of us have caught the bug. We discussed the state fair again this year and everyone has been asked to do a piece for it. I'm not sure what I'll be doing for it or if I'll do the fair this year. I've got to decide soon and start on something. The deadline is fast approaching. I'm thinking about a small doily, but I'm not sure yet. I'll let you know what I decide.

We had a demonstration last night at tatting. We pretty much stick to tatting but each month on the 2nd Tuesday we have a demonstration or class on either a new technique or other craft. Mary Jo couldn't do the demo last week so she postponed it to this week. Our demo last night was on Bobbin Lace. This is beautiful lacemaking but is definitely not my cup of tea. OMG, I have trouble with two needles, I can't imagine trying to manipulate 20 or more! So, I watched her demo for a while but went back to tatting on my flag. I decided this was just too much for me. I have too many things going now. Quilting, tatting, knitting, crocheting, etc. I just don't have anymore time to devote to another craft. I'll leave this one to those that are more coordinated. Til next time....

Amy's Creative Side Giveaway

Hey guys, I entered a giveaway and want to tell you about it. Amy over at Amy's Creative side is having a Go Cutter giveaway. Go check her out and enter.

Friday night sewing with Heidi and Bobbi

June 18th is the date for the Friday night sew in...Each month, Heidi and Bobbi hosts a Friday night sew in. You sign up to participate, do whatever craft you want to on Friday night, post about it on Saturday and wait for the results to see if you win a prize. What's more fun than that? If you're like me, you are going to sew anyway, you might as well brag about it and think of others while you're doing it. I like to think of all the ladies sewing their little hearts out on Friday nights. It's like good Kharma. It makes me feel closer to other people even though I might be sewing all myself at home. I put on my jammies, put on some music and sew or tat and have a great time doing it. Go to Heidi's blog or Bobbi's blog and sign up. This month, Bobbi is hosting it because Heidi is moving. So here's a link for you to pop over to Bobbi's blog and sign up to say you are sewing. Have fun and we'll be thinking about you on Friday night!!!

Amy's BOM, Friendship Block, a small quilt, the Jelly Roll Quilt Along Block and a little bit of tatting

I'm sorry I haven't posted this week. I've meant to and just haven't felt good enough to post. I went to the dentist Monday and had the second part to my root canal. When the medication wore off, I was hurting. It wasn't tooth pain, it was pain from being worked on...I hurt for two days. I went to work and would come home and take pain killers and go to bed...finally by Wednesday, I was feeling better. My tooth feels good and Tuesday, I'll go for my crown fitting. I haven't hurt with a root canal before and I'm glad this is over, or I hope it is....

I have worked on some things this week. Here's some of the blocks I've been working on.

Amy's BOM for June:

County Fair

Constellation

Cobwebs

A friendship block for my small group...

Here's block 8 of the Jelly Roll Quilt Along

This is a community service quilt I meandered on my little frame. I just put these 5 inch blocks together for a practice piece. I'm still practicing. I'm going to be doing some more of these for practice but they might as well be used too.

And, I'm still working on my tatted flag. I got the last portion of the navy blue done last night and I've started adding the red and white stripes...It took me longer to do this than I thought it would. I would like to have this done by Judy 4th but I've really got to hurry now.

Here's the instructions I'm working off of. I am using this as a guide only. I'm using these but changing the count and doing the ends as a split ring to climb out. I am not cutting and tying...

It's Complicated.

I stopped by the video store last night and picked up the movie, It's Complicated with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. What a hoot! I love Meryl Streep and she was great in this movie. I laughed so much at this movie. I ate my Chicken Quesidillas, chips and diet coke and laughed and laughed. I had a great movie night all by myself! No pressure. I'm going to buy this movie I liked it so much. Of course, it is a chick flick so I wouldn't push it on my boys but it was funny. It made for a great relaxing night during a stressful week. Til next time...
