Last night went great. Both ladies were left handed! I knew one of them was but I didn't know both were until I got there and they warned me. I told them I would try to help them and I would show them what I know but that was all I could do. We covered the basics, casting on, knit, purl, yarnovers and binding off. It went really well and they seemed to catch on too. I'm going back Saturday to help them again but we don't meet again for two weeks. They do have homework to keep them busy. I also showed them some great You tube videos to watch to refresh their memories with during the meantime. You know how it is when you first learn, if you don't use it, you lose it....The internet is such a great teaching tool and I'm so glad it is available. What did we ever do without it? Hopefully, I'll be showing you some of their projects soon. During the meantime, we are just having fun learning to knit together.

I think we used to use books to learn stuff back in the olden days.... but the internet is sooo much better!
I once taught a crochet class in which were several ladies who did not speak English... that was fun! They actually picked it up faster than the English-speaking students.
Oh how nice! I wish I could've been there...I need help! =) If you would be so kind as to send me the youtube links that you like?
I have basically learned the cast on, knit, and binding off, from a little booklet. I've not done anything since. Probably time to try again. =)
where are you meeting? What is the gals name and her blog addy that sat next to you Friday night?
I too, am a lefty (but in my right mind), and in my day that was punishable by beatings with a ruler. I failed everything in school not because it was bad but done backwards. I had to teach myself everything by reversing instructions. I'm glad the culture is changing.
By the way, three of my six children are left handed and two are both handed and when we play games and make teams rightys against leftys...the rightys scream "No fair!"
Thanks for helping the gals along!
Here's a tip for teaching a left-handed person to knit or crochet - sit facing each other! As you show how to do something, they can do it like a mirror image, instead of having to reverse it in their mind. Works great!
