Birthdays for two of my favorite people.

Last Thursday was my oldest son's birthday and my youngest granddaughter's birthday. Carmen turned one and my oldest (as he says it) became an old man by turning 30!  We celebrated Thursday night by having everyone over for hamburgers and hotdogs and cake.  The grandkids brought their bikes and rode around and played outside until the burgers were ready.  It was a beautiful day but windy. We had supper together and just sat around and talked.  Very low key but very nice. Plus it was a school day for the kids the next day, so we couldn't get too rowdy! Happy birthday, I love you both!

B-I-N-G-O

Today, I worked on my Bingo card/quilt for the May for Me game. I have been looking at these and just realized it had to be finished by tomorrow!!! OMG, I had to get busy.  I have been collecting squares for a while now to make an I Spy quilt. I pulled those out and cut 2 1/2" squares to make my card.  You can find the complete tutorial over on Sharon's blog. Anyway, I had so much fun making it and I was able to actually finish it today too!  Woo hoo!

There's my list, so now, I have to link up to play.  If you hurry, you can play too....Get busy and have some fun.  This was fun to do and I can't wait to see how we use these.

Pillowcases for FNSI

Ooh, I just so enjoy making pillowcases. I made these three last night. These are to benefit Conkerr Cancer. Here's a picture of the three pillowcases I got finished. I've had all of this fabric in my stash and am finally able to put it to use.   I didn't have anything to go with the little astronaut fabric so I just made a regular pillowcase with no trim. The black and white is musical fabric and I hope some future musician will like it.

I'll have to pop over to Heidi's blog and see where to send these.  I hope you got some good sewing time in last night.  Well, gotta go for now, back to sewing. I have to finish something special for tomorrow!  I'll show it later!  Happy sewing....

FNSI with Heidi and Bobbi

Yeah!!!! It's Friday and it's also time to sew for FNSI with Heidi and Bobbi. I was going to go sew with my friends but I have to watch my youngest grandbaby so, we will stay home and play and sew. Tonight, Heidi and Bobbi have asked us to make some pillowcases for the organization called Conkerr Cancer. I love their tag line at the top of their website “Giving sick kids a reason
to smile.. one pillowcase at a time." Arrow Sewing Cabinets and Conkerr Cancer are the sponsors this month. So, since I had a normal mammogram today (WOO HOO!), I'm going to celebrate my personal victory by making some pillowcases. So, if you have a chance go over to Heidi's blog and sign up and sew some pillowcases too. Show what you do tomorrow on your blog and send them to the Conkerr Cancer sponsors and your name goes into a great drawing plus you get to help a wonderful cause! Come sew with us! I'll show you what I do tomorrow, gotta get busy for now!

Some finishes..tatting, sewing and quilting.

Well, hello! I haven't meant to be away so long but I just couldn't find the time to blog. I've thought about it and thought about it but just couldn't find a spare moment. I used to blog at work during lunch but can't do that anymore. We have a new computer system there and it's got all kinds of firewalls and won't allow me to post pictures. So, I can only do it at home and I just haven't had the time...
Ok, so much for my excuses...
Here's some stuff that has kept me busy.

I made this sweet little pincushion last week.  I won the little kit from Susan of DesertSky Quilts. The pattern is called Heirloom Tomatoes and is from Rana over at Sewn into the Fabric. She has a pincushion of the month and this one was January.  It was fun and easy to do.

I quilted this little mug rug from leftovers of another project.

Last Saturday, a few of the ladies in my American Sewing Group got together to have some sewing fun.  There were 10 of us all together and we spent the day eating, talking and making this bag.  This pattern is the Harmony Bag from Studio Kat Designs. Only four of us made the bag while the others worked on other projects or just sat and chatted.  Cathey from our group had made two of these bags and she walked us through the pattern.  It was great. I don't know if I'll keep this one or give it as a gift.  My sister really likes red so I'll have to think about this one...but I do like it and think it turned out really cute.  Her pattern was very easy to follow.  Here's a link to her site, she has alot of different bags...

Here's a tatted necklace I made last week. I got this pattern off of the Yarnplayers (Marilee Rocklee) Website.... This was a free pattern and it worked up so quickly. I love her stuff.

And, I finished my tatted bag. I have been working on this for about a year and I finally finished it.  It doesn't look very big or very pretty in this picture but I think it's lovely. I made twisted cord from tatting thread for my drawstrings and I'm so happy with it.  I'm glad I finished it. It was alot of work. It wasn't hard, it just got boring after awhile and I kept putting it aside....I'm not sure if I'll leave it like this or line it but I like it this way right now.

Ok, gotta go for now so I can sew today.  Until next time, happy sewing!
