On Butterfly Wings Quilt

Back in June, I made some butterfly blocks to give to my friend for this quilt. Some of my quilt group also made blocks and  now the quilt is all together.  Here is the quilt and it is for a Breast Cancer Survivor's group called  On Butterfly Wings. The picture really doesn't do it justice. It is really pretty up close.  I'm really tempted to make me one.  I love butterfly blocks and this one was easy and fun to make.

Sunny Lanes Quilt blocks

I was able to make 17 of these this weekend.  This is a block used to make a quilt called Sunny Lanes and is in the Nickel Quilt book.  I am in an exchange with 5 other friends and we make 24 -  4 patches and 24 half square triangles each month to trade.  I'm all caught up with the blocks right now until I get some more in trade.  The quilt takes 36 blocks for a queen size.  This is a great scrappy quilt block and I'm really enjoying making this.

A Sweet Christmas Panel Quilt

I went to my favorite local quilt shop today and bought a cute kit.  It's a Christmas kit.  I got home and started working on it.  It went really quick and now I have another top to quilt.  It went fast because it was a panel. I added  piano key borders around it and two solid small borders too.  I will quilt it pretty soon. I always make at least one Christmas quilt a year.  I'm going to give this to my sister for Christmas so I will make another Christmas quilt this year too....I wasn't planning on working on this today but I just couldn't help myself. It was fun and quick.....

A finished quilt, leader blocks and summer blocks

Here's the latest quilt I quilted.  My MIL made this a while back and  I quilted it and bound it for her.  It is a gift for a friend of hers that's having a birthday in September....Happy Birthday to Barbara.

Thursday night was my small group's annual picnic.  I have no idea why it's called that, we never sit outside, go to a park or anything but it's always been called that!  Anyway, it is the time when new officers are named and our annual dues are paid and we vote on new rules or programs for the year.  We always make the current leaders blocks as a way to say Thank You for their leadership.  These two blocks were for the current leaders.  They are the same blocks but with different themes of fabric.  This one was with 30's fabric and Bev is a scrap lover so all the squares were different.

Deanna likes Balis or Batiks and only 2 fabrics were called for.  Isn't it funny how the same block can look so different?

Along with making the leader blocks we always have a summer block to win all of the blocks.  This year was this vase or jar block...I made two so my name went in twice to win more blocks.  Unfortunately, I didn't win, ;( .....But, that's ok, I still have the pattern and can make a quilt if I so choose.  This was a fun and easy block to make.

By now, I guess if you've read me the last few times, you know I've been having trouble uploading my pictures to my blog.  I switched to Google Chrome and the problem is solved.  I can now upload and carry on.  I have to get off now and get busy sewing so have a good weekend and I hope you get lots of sewing time or family time or whatever time you want in....
Happy Stitching,

Pictures from the Plano Quilt Show

I forgot to show you some of the pictures from the Plano, Tx quilt show last weekend.  I had fun going to the show and I'm so excited that I'm finally able to put pictures back on my blog....

I didn't take alot of pictures but here's a few....If you click on the pictures you can see them bigger.

.
This was an interesting quilt. The colored circles were from men's ties.  The quilter did all kinds of hand embroidery around the circles...I thought it was a great idea.

This one belongs to a friend of mine.

This one is called Labyrinth Walk and is on my list of quilts to make.

A good old Texas quilt.

A Christmas sampler.

Blue Stars

This one had sayings all over it.  It was funny.  Below are a few sayings.

Here's the Best of Show quilt.  It was beautiful and it's hand quilted too.  I was thrilled that a hand quilted quilt won

Like I said I didn't take alot of pictures but it was a wonderful show....

Local Quilt Group Meeting to visit and enjoy

I've started going to the local library on Monday nights. We have a quilt group that meets there and I get to go to the meetings now.  They were meeting on Tuesday nights and I have my tatting on Tuesdays and Quilt Guild on Tuesdays too.  I just couldn't go to another group on Tuesday nights even though I wanted to.  So, they were so sweet and changed the meeting dates to Monday so I could come...These ladies are so sweet and I'm really enjoying this little group.  We crochet, tat, sew, chat or do whatever we want. No stress. You can just sit and visit if you want....

My Paris Traveler's Bag

This is the latest bag I've made.  It is really big but is hard to tell from the picture.  It is called My Paris Traveler's Bag and is 23" X 15" X 9". I made this bag for the quilt shop owner's daughter.  She had the material and pattern for about 2 years and asked me if I would make it for her.  It is lined with pink fabric and is pretty. I enjoyed making it....

I updated my computer to Windows 10 and it's been difficult to add pictures.  I hope I can figure it out soon...

I went to the Plano Quilt Show yesterday and it was great.  I'll show some pics when I can.  I also quilted a quilt today and made 4 blocks to show too...I'll post those later.

Looking back

I haven't been blogging lately and I almost decided to give it up but the last few days I've been reviewing or looking back at my blog and decided I didn't want to stop.  I looked all the way back to the beginning and I had forgotten about a lot of projects that I had done over the years.  It was fun to look back and remember these.
I like keeping track of what I do so I guess I'll just keep it up.  I have updated my computer to Windows 10 and I was not able to upload any pictures to my blog the other day but I'm going to try again.  I don't want to give up on it yet....

I have been working on several things lately and if I can get the pics uploaded, I'll show you what I've been up to.  Happy stitching,
