Tatting Tuesday and the State Fair

Today was Tatting Tuesday and I went to the Richardson Senior Center to tat with my friends. We had a good time. We've had several ladies join us the past few weeks and we are now up to about 15 every week now. There's been a few that visited a few times and haven't come back but there's also been several that have joined our happy little group and are still coming. We are at the deadline now of turning in our paperwork for the great State Fair of Texas. I sent my entry in yesterday. I waited until the last minute to decide if I really wanted to enter...deadline is July 31 for the paperwork. If it makes it ok, if it doesn't that's ok too...There are so many ladies from my group that are entering, it will be tough for the judges to decide who the winners are. Of course, I already have my winners picked out. I will let you know if I'm right. The fair opens Sept 25th but the winners will be announced about Sept 9th. I'll take pictures then and let you see. All of the entries aren't completely finished yet. There's still a few days before we have to take the actual items in....Everybody was excited and talking about the fair last night. Several of us are doing tatting demos at the fair. Two to three of us at a time will be doing the demo and it should be alot of fun. We can set up a display to show our work and I will take pictures of that too!

I have been visiting a blog lately called Ambitatterous and she celebrates Tatting Tea Tuesday nearly every week. If you get a chance, hop on over and visit with her. Here's a link to her blog: Ambitatterous.

Til next time....

Sewing with a friend and Crazy Quilt Patches

Have you ever said you would do something, thinking it wouldn't take you very long - just to find out it takes you forever? That's what has happened to me the last couple of times I have told someone I would help them out....and it's not that I put it off either. I started working on some blocks with my friend, Shirley, on Saturday. She and I are doing a demo together for our sewing group. We are making crazy patch blocks and showing the group how to do embroidery stitches and embellishments on these blocks. We are making about 25 - 30 blocks and they are taking forever! We worked on these Saturday and only got 6 done. We had a great time and laughed alot but we were both surprised at how long these blocks were taking to sew up...We are getting together again this Saturday. Shirley and I decided to do these crazy patches with embellishments and embroidery stitches after we went to Martha Pullen. At Martha Pullen, we sat in on a class by Sandy Jenkins from Fredericksburg, Tx. Shirley had taken her classes in the past and loved her. She is a crazy patch queen. Go check out her website, very impressive. I'm not into crazy patch that much but she made me want to be! She does lovely work. I watched her video and she makes embroidery work look so easy!

I missed Tatting Tuesday for my Quilt Guild

I hate it when I have to choose between things I love to do...tonight I had to miss tatting in order to go to my Quilt Guild meeting. Sometimes I do both but I didn't feel like hurrying tonight. Tatting is in Richardson and my guild meeting is in Mesquite. They are about 20 miles apart. I could have gone to tatting for awhile then to my quilt meeting but I feel so rushed when I do this and don't get quality time at either function. I have not been going to the Quilt meetings but I was shamed into going again. I went to TAQG Rally day (that's Texas Association of Quilt Guilds for all you out of staters) and saw all my buddies from quilting there. I had so many friends walk up to me and tell me they missed me and wanted me to come back that I just had to go...I went and took the quilt to my friend that I finished and she loved it...it had been sitting at her house for 10 years, so she was pleased to get it back to bind and give to her son....Once at the guild meeting, I had a great time and we did 4 mini lessons on different ways to do applique. I've done all of them but I did learn a few tricks I didn't know too. I will do some quick applique and share the little tricks I learned with ya'll maybe this weekend. I sure missed my friends and I'm really glad I went tonight. I'm going to have to figure out how to juggle my time better...Hmmm, I wonder if I can take off a little early from work on Tuesday and then later go to quilting....something to think about. gotta go for now, til next time...

Trapunto Giveaway

Here's another great giveaway. Geta over at Geta's Quilting Studio is having a giveaway. Check out her blog...here's a link. Leave a comment and you can be in her drawing too....

Go check her out.

Where to start? Tatting and Quilting finishes...

I have finished so many things since my computer was on the blitz....it's hard to tell where to begin...so I'll start by posting some of the last things cuz these are the ones I remember that I haven't showed you.

Here's a Spinning Wheel Glass Mat from Mary Konior's book Tatting from Visual Patterns. It is one of my favorite patterns.

Next comes my favorite snowflakes...It is one of Ruth Perry's patterns or should I say Rozella Linden and is called the Gloria Snowflake...Anyway, I have made this one several times and I love it. The big one is in size 10 thread and the smaller is size 20.

This is my latest finish. It is from Jon over at Jon's Thread Escapade. It is her pattern called Quantiesque and you can get to her pattern from this link...

This one is a quilt that belongs to a friend of mine. I thought I would have this finished by last Christmas but alas, here it is July. I'm going to give this to her Tuesday when I see her and ask her if it still counts for Christmas. You know you see all the sales and ads that say: Christmas in July Sale...does that count? Anyway, I hand quilted this one for her to give to her son. Part of it was already quilted, I just finished it up. I didn't think it would take me so long but you know how it is when you take on someone else's projects. I put it aside and quit working on it. The guilt bug finally got the best of me and I started working on it so I could get it off my list. OMG, it feels so good to have it finished. I can't wait to give it to her. I hope she is pleased. I know I like looking at it now that it is finished. I did enjoy the hand quilting and I'm ready to do one of mine now...

I saw this bookmark on Dantatter's blog and I just loved it. She didn't have the pattern. She said she got it off the web along time ago but the site she got it from was not there anymore. I just looked at it and counted and copied it the best I could. I think it turned out ok. I am going to re-tat it again soon and work out the kinks in it....I enjoyed doing this one.

This bookmark is from Nancy at New to Me. She made this up and shared it with me. Here's a link to her blog... She and I see each other on Tuesday's. I call it Tatting Tuesday...(I know there is a blog that does the Tatting Tuesday thing and I'll have to let her know about our little group.) We meet at the Richardson Senior Center and there are about 20 of us now. Our little group is growing more every week. We have ladies that come in that know how to knit and crochet and they join us too. We have alot of fun.

This last one is the Canadian Maple Leaf and I got the pattern from the web...I forget where but it is easily found if you type in tatted Canadian Maple Leaf. If you have trouble fining it, leave a comment and I'll locate it for you.

I have really missed blogging and keeping up with all my friends in blogland. I felt like something was really missing in my life. I have made so many friends through the online community and I hope I never lose connections again. Come back and see me again and I'll post some more finishes tomorrow. I have to do some browsing now and see what everyone else is doing...Hugs to you all. Til next time....

Back up and running

Ok, we finally found someone with a brain that could fix our computer! He came to the house and worked on it. He actually knew what he was doing, was nice, early for the appointment and didn't charge us an arm and a leg for the repairs... I couldn't believe it. Wow, I am still impressed. If you live in Texas and need a good honest computer repairman, I have the guy for you! Thank you so much Frank, you made my month!!!!

Computer Woes and blogging again

Well, I have given up for now. My computer at home is still ill. It is being checked out by someone else now. We've had the Cable/Internet people out twice to check our connections and they say there is nothing wrong. My computer works at the store where it was worked on and it works at my son's house....OMG, I am going crazy. I am totally sick of this mess and I can't do anymore. I have turned it over to husband to handle and am wiping my hands of it!

I will be continuing my blogging at work and sneak in extra blogging time when I can. I have truly missed keeping up with all my friends and showing everyone my work. I just can't live without blogging anymore, it's too hard....

Tatting Chic is having a celebration!

Hello all...Go over to Tatting Chic's blog and post a comment. She is having a giveaway to celebrate 50,000 visitors. Wow, isn't that amazing! She is such a neat lady and I love her blog. She has great pictures, tips and is so funny....Check her out. If you click on the button at the side, you can get to her from there. Or click here and it will take you there too. Tatting Chic.
Congrats to her. Love you chic! I hope I win. til next time....

Hello, I'm not completely back yet....Soon, I promise.

I just had to drop a note. I'm not up and running yet. I have determined it is not my computer. After taking my computer into the shop and them working on it. Running diagnostics and restore of my software and $140.00 later.....it still doesn't work at my house. It works at the repair store and my son's house....(who just happens to have the same service as I do). I plug it up at home and it has a connection and they say everything is fine. I am not browsing....I am slowly shuffling! Ughrrrrrrrrr! I have made so many phone calls to our provider I have lost count but I have made my last. I'm through. They are either coming back out again and rechecking while I'm there or I'm through. (My husband was there the first time and it didn't do any good.) I am through trouble shooting for them. Ok, sorry, I didn't mean to subject you to my rants...Anyway, I will be back soon and I have alot to post about.

I only have a short time at lunch to be on the computer so I can't do too much at work. I miss blogging but please don't count me out.

Come back soon and I will show you all my sewing and tatting I have done. Til next time.....
