Knitting at Joann's

Last night was our first night to meet for knitting.  I wasn't sure how many people would show up or be interested in it...There were ten of us last night and I thought that was okay.  The room was big enough and we all brought the knitting we were working on.  We had a good time and some of us even got help with our knitting.  I know I had a good time and everyone said they were glad we were meeting and that they would be back...

I was trying to work on a sock pattern and it just wasn't working out for me.  I had started this sock last year and I had to figure out where I was.  I started working on it and before I knew it , I could tell that I had dropped some stitches.  I had to rip it out and try again.  So, I didn't get any knittting done at knitting but I sure had a great time.  Maybe next time will be more productive.   It was fun to see what everyone is working on.  I didn't take pictures because my camera was dead...I will take them next time and show you our progress.  Please stay tuned. Til next time, keep on knitting, sewing, quilting or crafting!

Cutting out my Boo Quilt, Knitting and Sewing with Heidi, Bobbi and friends on Friday.

I didn't really get to do anything tonight except cut out.  I got my Boo quilt completely cut out and I'll be sewing it together Friday night.  Don't forget, Friday night is Sewing with Heidi and Bobbi and the rest of my friends...

Go over and sign up over on their blog and post what you did by Saturday and you'll be entered into their drawings.

Click here and it will take you to Heidi's blog to sign up and give you more info about the sew-in
Tomorrow night, I'll be knitting with some friends and if you're anywhere around, please bring your knitting and come join us.  We'll be at the Joann Fabric Store in Mesquite.  We're not teaching knitting, it's just a sit and knit...Alot of us wanted just to get together and knit and help each other with our knitting.  We'll be doing this each month, the 2nd Thursday each month, so bring your sticks and some yarn and drop by.

Just a reminder, Friday is the cut off to enter the Fall Into Fall Drawing.  I am closing the comments by 6:00 PM and I will be drawing Friday night after that.  Here's a quick link to get you back to the post that you need to sign up on... Good luck to everyone...

Tatting Tuesday and crafting

Last night was Tatting Tuesday but we didn't do any tatting.  Well, maybe I should say most of us didn't do any tatting.  We brought our stuff to work on making cards.  With all the stuff that was in this room, we could very well have opened up a stamp shop or card shop.  All of my friends are crafty and I always thought I had a lot of stuff (almost a hoarder here) but my friends are as bad or worse than I am.  I think that's why I like these people so much!  I can really relate to them on so many levels...I don't know about you but I have always been a crafter.  I watched all the Carol Duvall shows, Jackie Guerra Jewelry Shows, Sandy Gervais card making and scrap booking shows, America Sews, Nancy Zieman, America Sews, Knitty Gritty, DIY shows and anything else I could find that was crafty.  I have always wanted to do crafts of all kinds.  I started sewing when I was 16 and crocheting when I was 18.  I have glued, colored, beaded, embroidered, you name it and I've done it.  When I found quilting, that was it...I pretty much stopped doing any other crafts.  I've been quilting since 1992 and I just can't get enough of it.  These ladies that I tat with are about the same except they feel that way about tatting.  However, every now and again, we have to do other crafts.  Last night was one of those nights.  We decided it was time to make some cards.  We made Halloween cards, Thanksgiving cards and Get Well cards.  It was alot of fun.  The only thing is, we couldn't finish them because none of us brought any glue.  We stamped and cut out and colored but could not glue anything together.   I'll pull mine out and finish them this weekend and show you what I did.  til next time, Happy Fall....

Sunday sewing and knitting

I am so enjoying this lovely Fall weather. I sat outside and  worked on some of these projects today.

I finished this Turning Twenty Quilt ....It's all 30's reproduction  fabrics and I really like it. Very simple pattern and it went together really quickly.  I'm going to do this one again sometime.  I have all of the Turning Twenty Books and I'll see which one I want to do next.

I put buttons on this little Christmas tree quilt to embellish it.  I'm not sure if I like it this way or not.  I'll have to just look at for a while and see if I want to do more or take them off completely.

Then, I finished knitting this little scarf for my granddaughter...I had just enough to do this one.

I started a knitted wash cloth but I didn't finish it...I'll show it later in the week. It's just a simple one made from Peaches and Cream yarn... I love doing those easy washcloths and I plan on doing some for Christmas gifts. My sister said she wanted some of these and some hot pads.  She wants some crocheted or knitted hot pads and I'm going to have to look up some patterns for those...

I wanted to work on my Halloween quilt but these projects were just begging to be finished.  This week I'll be doing the Boo Quilt and I'll show you soon.  Til next time, happy sewing.

Relaxing time with my sister

My DH and I went to Lake Fork last night and stayed with my sweet sister, Peggy and her DH, Jerry.  The guys were playing golf today at Lake Fork Golf Course for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Golf tournament.  They didn't win but had a great time playing golf together.  The weather was pure perfection!  They got up early and my sweet sister fixed breakfast for them while I slept in.  I was lazy and finally woke up at 9:30!  Wow, I slept great! I usually don't sleep at all away from home but I think I actually slept all night.  The bed was perfect.  I got up and she fixed me breakfast too.  We laughed and talked together while the guys played golf.  I gave her a mini knitting lesson and we talked about her crochet project.  She has decided she likes knitting better than crochet and I left her some needles and yarn and a pattern for some washcloths.   When the guys came in, we took off and went to eat a late lunch at their favorite Mexican restaurant.  We came back to their house for coffee and Boston Cream cake.  What a wonderful, relaxing day.  We just got home and I'm now trying to catch up on all my email and reading my favorite blogs.  It was a great time and I had a great visit with my wonderful sister.  I love family time and I don't spend enough time with either of my sisters and I plan on changing that. I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend and you are enjoying this wonderful fall weather.  til next time, happy sewing.

What a weekend!

I have not been able to pull myself away from the computer this weekend, thanks to the Fall Into Fall Giveaway!  It has been alot of fun going through everyone's blog to see what their giveaways have been but that is all I did.  No sewing, no cleaning, nothing..nada, zip, zero.  My eyeballs are bloodshot today because they say once you start looking and concentrating on the computer screen, you forget to blink.  I believe that!  I had to add eye drops this morning to soothe my poor, tired, red eyes.  It has been so much fun going through the blogs, I'd do it all again.  Well, actually, I will be doing it more because I haven't gone through all of them yet.  I have really enjoyed this though and I have seen some pretty fantastic giveaway prizes and some pretty incredible things going on all across the country.  This is so much fun!!!  I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am.  Good luck to everyone and I'm off to look at more blogs now.  Only a few minutes to do this during my lunch break.  Til next time, keep on looking at those blogs and entering the giveaways!  Click here and it will take you to my post to sign up for my giveaway.... Fall Into Fall Giveaway
