Brandon and his pumpkins

Brandon's Bat Pumpkin won class favorite AND 1st grade Kid favorite!
Way to go, Brandon!

Hello Batty!

Look at this great Ranger pumpkin!

Happy Halloween everyone, have fun!!!

Saturday Sewing and working on quick Christmas Gifts.

I have so many quilts and projects that need to be worked on.  I  got up this morning and couldn't decide what to work on...I started out by straightening up my sewing area a little bit and decided to get my obligation blocks out of the way.  I made the church blocks first and that got me started.

I told my group the other night that I would show some quick gifts at the next meeting so I decided to work on those.  I pulled out a little kit I had put together and made this chair caddy. It went together pretty quickly, so I decided to make another one but I quilted it differently and I also finished the binding by machine instead of by hand.  Here's two quick gifts.

I then made these two bed caddies...These were super quick to make.

I put my embroidery unit on my machine and made the embroidered towel on the left.  I made the middle towel on another machine while my machine embroidered away.  These are great for the kitchen.  The butterfly towel is just that.  I didn't do anything with that.  I'll put some bath soap with that for a quick gift.  I have a friend that loves butterflies, so this will go to her.

I made these quick bookmarks too.  I love doing these.  I give these with a book to my sewing friends.  I have made these for years and they always get a smile or giggle out of the receiver...

I made these little kleenex carriers, quick coasters, and the two little bags next.  I love the blue jean bag.  I used left over or should I say recycled jeans to make it.   I also added some cute stitches on it...I'll put some lip gloss and some little something in it and give it to my granddaughter.  The other little bag is so quick to make, you can whip one up in about 10 minutes and it can be any size.   Great for makeup or putting personal items in.

This last little bear took me the rest of the afternoon.  He will be going to a nursing home for someone to love...One of the ladies at tatting was giving away some patterns and craft stuff and I got him for free...I have alot more to sew up to go to the nursing home.
This is what I got done today. I would have gotten more done but I had to stop and watch the Rangers play....Yeah, I'm so glad they won.  Go Rangers!!!

I think it was a pretty productive day. I have gone through some of my stash and put together fabric with patterns to make little kits up and I'll be working on more of these this week.  Next weekend I am not going to Houston. I am going on retreat and plan on getting alot done.  I will be working on my quilts and other projects there.
I am almost finished with one sock...I told you about this earlier.  I started the knitting group and pulled this sock out and tried to work on it at group...Well, I am now onto the foot part and it is going just fine except...it looks like it might be big...I'm going to finish it and see if it will shrink a little bit.  I'll show you the sock tomorrow.  I hope you had a great day and get lots of sewing done this weekend.  til next time....

Blocks for our church quilt

Here's two blocks for our church quilt.  The church that we meet at has allowed us to meet there for many years.  We are very lucky to have a great meeting place. Each year we make them a quilt. Everyone is supposed to make two blocks from Bali or Batik fabrics...I can't wait to see what the quilt will look like.

A knitted bag

This was a bag I knitted awhile back.  I had forgotten about it until I started going through all of my knitting stuff and organizing.  I wanted to show you this before I felted it.

Same bag but a little closer look.  I don't know why it looks gray in this.. I used black wool and a silver thread.  I'm not sure how the silver thread is going to work but I thought I'd give it a try...

Here it is again and it looks normal.

The above pictures were from earlier today. I threw it in the washer and felted it
and the silver thread did just fine.  I don't know if you can tell it or not but it shrunk up alot!  After it is dry, I'll put a liner in it and a button on it.

Signature Blocks in the mail

I received some siggies in the mail this week...One from Germany and one from France!  I love it!  It's so exciting to get these.  I love reading what everyone has to say.  The one from Germany is in German and I can't read it.  Any suggestions on how I can get it translated?

This one's from Liesel from Germany...

This one is from Isabelle and she's from France.

Thank you, ladies, I'll put yours in the mail on Monday.

Grandbabies and Brandon's birthday party

I took off work last Friday so I could watch my youngest grandbaby, Trent.  He is so much fun...He was climbing on the table and he knew he wasn't supposed to be doing that.  Cute baby but he has to be watched pretty closely cuz he's a climber!

My DIL was going on a field trip with my granddaughter and her class to the Dallas Zoo....This is Alayna, my beautiful and only granddaughter. She had fun with her Mom at the Zoo.

When they came back from the zoo, they went back to school and watched a movie and had popcorn!  What a treat!   We went to school and picked her up and my oldest grandson, Brandon...we came home and cleaned up the house a little bit so we could get ready for Brandon's birthday party.  He was having a Wii birthday party.  He invited several of this little friends to his party and asked them to bring their own controllers.  They did and their names were written on them and they played Wii games.  Then had pizza, cake and ice cream.  It was so much fun!  Brandon 's birthday isn't til the 29th but he had a big Halloween party to go to so he wanted his birthday early.  Here's the cute Wii cakes my
DIL made for him.

He loved these.  He likes fondant and asked his Mom to make his cakes with it.  She also mad cakes with regular icing too for the group that doesn't like fondant icing...

Here's the sweet birthday boy with his cakes.

Opening some cool gifts.
This was a fun party.  8 little boys all running around inside and out.  I was a tired Grammy when I got home!

Happy Birthday, Brandon, Grammy loves you!

Sew What's Group

Ok, I'm sorry, it's been a busy week for me and I just haven't had time to blog.  I've done Grandma duty a few times and meetings and I wanted to sew and watch the World series....I think I've covered all the excuses now so I'll just stop right there.  I have been busy and just because I haven't blogged doesn't mean I haven't been sewing or knitting.   I have alot to show so I'll start with last Thursday and my small group meeting....

These are some friendship star blocks for Diane

Look at this wonderful One Block Wonder from Carolee...I think this is her 2nd quilt!!! Wow, love the colors!

This is one of Irene's little quilts

Judy's Halloween vest.  Ok, I chopped off her head...it's a Halloween picture, what do you expect???? She was ok with it!

Irene's Floating Four Patch Quilt

Jackie made a cute
This is Martha's big sewing cushion. It's a cushion to rest her hands on while she's doing hand work...It even has pockets.

This is Dee's One Block Wonder.  Beautiful!  I don't know if you can click on this to make it bigger or not, but this is Christmas fabric. The picture does not do any justice to this beautiful quilt.

Karen's Calendar quilt.  She's made three of these...

Karen's Tea Time quilt.  I think she said she's made three of these too...She's also made tablerunners and placemats out of this fabric line. She loves this line of fabric and can't get enough of it...

Bev made this as a quick gift.   All scraps.

This is a frienship Signature exchange from 2003. Lois is finishing up old projects too.
This was a Christmas block exchange from 2 years ago.  Lois won these blocks and another member won the other set of blocks.  She just got this one back from the quilter and hasn't even trimmed it yet.  The quilting was gorgeous on this quilt.

We have some talented ladies in our group and this is just some of the items that were shown last week.

Some great mail...and some finishes.

I received some great mail today.  I got my prizes from the Fall Into Fall Giveaway...I got the Bliss Jelly Roll from Vic and I got the Schlep Bag from Pauline...Both of these are great and I love them.  I am so looking forward to using the Jelly Roll to make Alayna a little quilt.  Vic also made me a cute little Halloween card, I love it...Thank you, Vic.

Here's the Schlep bag that Pauline sent me.. I already have it loaded with some things to take to my small group meeting tomorrow night.  I can't wait to show everyone...

I also got two  signature blocks today too... This one from Mary from the Netherlands:

This one is from Mary too but she's from California:
I am so enjoying this Signature exchange.  It's fun to see where they are all coming from...

I made two blocks tonight too. One is for a friendship exchange for Diane in my small group:

This one is for the Pizza Box Exchange.  This is block 8, only one more block to go for this exchange....This block is called Woven Ribbons and it's form Marcia Hohn's site, Quilter's Cache...

This last picture is a small quilt I finished quilting on.  This was a Round Robin exchange.  It was alot of fun.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  I hand quilted this one.  I'm not sure what to name this one. I'm thinking Tranquility. What do you think, any suggestions?
I'll be going to my small group meeting tomorrow night and I hope I'll have some great show and tell for you, til next time...Happy Fall!
P.S. Go Rangers!!!

My husband needs glasses.

I have to tell y'all something that just cracked me up...

I  worked on my Boo quilt last night. I started quilting it Sunday afternoon and finished quilting it Monday night.  I sewed the binding on and a hanging sleeve and I'm hand sewing those down tonight.  I'm trying really hard to finish it before the Guild meeting tonight.  Anyway, I held the quilt up for my husband to look at and he said, oh, that's nice honey....are you finished with it yet?  I told him, no, I still have to put the buttons on it for the eyes and quilt around the letters.  He said, there's letters on it?  I said, yeah, that's why I call it a Boo quilt. He said:  You call it a Boo quilt?  I said: Yes, see the letters?  He said: Oh, now I do, I wasn't looking at the letters, I was looking at the pumpkins. I laughed at him so hard I almost peed my pants...I told him he really needed his eyes checked again as he couldn't see the forest for all the trees.  I thought it was pretty funny and I was telling the girls at work about it and one of them said the same thing...She didn't see the letters either until I pointed the 12" word out to her!  She thought it was pretty funny then too.  OMG, I just couldn't believe it and neither could the other girls in the office.  We all had a good laugh out of this one...

Anyway, what do you think?  Can you see Boo?
